Leveling up is pretty straight forward, there are 4 ways to level up: Killing Enemies (higher difficulty = more XP earned), Surviving Ambushes (Ambushes are triggered periodically in levels, clearing out all the enemies gives you XP per enemy killed, plus a bit of extra XP for finishing the ambush), Story Progression (Completing levels, even replaying them, nets extra XP depending on level difficulty), Defeating Bosses (Defeating a boss nets a large chunk of XP and usually some pretty good gear drops). A large amount of the game’s achievements are cumulative and just require you to put in the hours into your playthroughs.Īssuming you don’t replay levels a bunch, you should hit level 50 during your Apocalypse difficulty playthrough. Or maybe you didn’t earn the right kind of gear for Maxed Out And Geared Up (100G). If you didn’t get the correct artifacts you may still need to finish A Friend in Need (30G). Most of your Mop-Up will be dependent on the RNG drops that you got through finishing your three playthroughs of the game. Overall, the game is much more enjoyable and easier when playing with others anyway. There is no online matchmaking for co-op, so you can either invite a friend or play couch co-op with an additional controller. There is only one achievement, Life Of The Party (50G), that requires you to play co-op.
Practically, every achievement on offer will be earned through natural play as you work toward defeating the Arch-Illager on Apocalypse difficulty ( High Treason (100G)). Each level includes a separate difficulty slider dependent on power level to earn even better gear. The game even offers some secret levels (including the secret COW level that can only be unlocked after completing your Default playthrough). You’ll find yourself quickly grinding for gear and maxing out your character to the best of your ability across multiple levels/locations. There are three main difficulties: Default, Adventure, and Apocalypse. At times your level can outpace where you are in the story, but mowing down hordes of enemy mobs is where most of the fun comes from! With relatively quick levels and a short story, this game is perfect to pick up and put down whenever you are in the mood. Though it lacks the depth you would find in most dungeon crawlers, it is still a fun experience and a must have for any Minecraft fan.
